Hoi An is an ancient town situated on the Thu Bon River Basin, the coastal plain of Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, Da Nang City and about 30 km to the south. Due to geographical factors and favorable climate, Hoi An was once a bustling international trading port, the meeting place of the merchant ships of Japan, China and the West during the 17th and 18th centuries. Prior to this time, this place also had traces of Cham commercial port or mentioned along the Silk Road on the sea.
