Son La City is the provincial capital of Son La province, Northwest Vietnam before the Son La town was transferred to the city under Decree No. 98/2008/ND-CP dated 03/09/2008 of the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Son La city is Center administrative, economic, cultural, educational, health of the province, there are road transport system creates favorable conditions for the city in exchange for trade goods, exchange of technical information, absorbing the achievements of advanced science and technology and the ability to attract investment from organizations and individuals in and outside the province. Son La City has a historical worth noting, that inscription of Emperor Le Thai Tong at the La door. This relic was discovered in 1965; 1992 is recognized as cultural relics of national history.
